I have made an easy swing change recently that is paying great dividends. I have always had trouble keeping the clubface square throughout the backswing. Normally it would end up closed, and I have tried everything to not have that happen.<\/p>\n
What made the difference is that I stopped swinging the club back, and started thinking of the first movement as a windup<\/em>, led by the left hand reaching back with a flat left wrist, just as it is at address. That part of the swing still looks like my usual backswing, but it ends up with the clubface that was square at address undisturbed. From there I swing forward through the ball as usual.<\/p>\n Backswing = windup; forward swing = swing.<\/p>\n Problem solved, and now I\u2019m consistently hitting the ball straight and high.
